Bing follows Google with ‘Search Quality Insights’

How do SEO Professionals find out and adjust their game whenever Google releases another update? Mostly, by reading their regular blog updates. What about Bing? Although Bing is not so heavily used to attain dictionary word status as Google has (as a verb that literally means ‘to use an internet search engine’), it is still in use and therefore, is also important to SEO.

However, Bing is not dealing with such allegations. Therefore, Bing’s move to offer search quality insights is seen as a method to attract the attention of users. The theory is simple, if users are given updates on what’s going on with Bing, they may want to try and ‘Bing it’ for a change.

According to a statement issued by Bing on the matter, their Bing Search Quality Insights blog series is geared toward providing its users with information on its trends, algorithms as well as the brains behind operations. Bing also quotes that the quality improvements for Bing are quite subtle but are not to be ignored as they are the results of years of research and development. In fact, the statement proves that Bing is attempting to be a little bit more like Google, but without the anti-trust claim drama of course.

If we are to consider Google, who started the Search Quality Insight trend, it was done with the purpose of allowing their users to gain some insight into their practice. Instead of suddenly waking up to dropped rankings or unexpected fluctuations, SEO professionals now have the luxury of finding out about any updates to Google’s algorithm and take necessary measures before they are put into action.

Tech experts say that Bing’s move will achieve two things. One, it does have the potential to attract people, to check out the search engine. Two, this will also be good for Google as Bing’s adaptation of its practice will be seen as a sort of support for its practices that have often attracted controversy and of course, the infamous allegations. Since Bing has decided to follow suit, it is expected that Google’s allegations may dry out eventually. Nowadays, the internal workings of search engines are not a great mystery and it’s about time that Bing decided to follow in the footsteps of the most popular search engine.
